Govt focusing on empowering tribal people to speak up for their rights: President Murmu

Speaking at the ‘Aadi Karmayogi Abhiyan National Convocation’ here, Murmu said the initiative aims to ensure active participation of tribal communities in the development journey of the country and spread the benefits of growth to all tribal areas.
“Tribal people know that this is a democratic country, they vote, but they have not learned to demand anything. They accept all the facilities they receive from the state in their villages, whether it be roads or electricity, as they are… That’s why the government has to think about them today,” he said.
Murmu said although some members of the tribal community are IAS and IPS officers, many are still struggling for equal access to homes, schools, roads, electricity and water.
He said the government has launched Aadi Karmayogi Abhiyan to help tribal people become more conscious, assertive and self-reliant and urged them to contribute in making India a developed nation by 2047.
The Aadi Karmayogi Abhiyan, launched by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs on July 10, aims to train 20 lakh ‘Aadi Karmayogi’: local officials, youth and volunteers to make governance more responsive and prepare ‘Village Vision 2030’ plans for inclusive tribal development.
