WA seeking to build military weapons hub
Western Australia could host a missile manufacturing center under Prime Minister Roger Cook’s new plan to boost the state’s military capacity.
Cooks is expected to announce on the first day of the Indian Ocean Defense and Security Conference in Perth today that WA is seeking interest from defense giants to build a weapons centre.
The three-day conference will take place under tight security at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, where people from 12 countries and 250 different companies will attend to talk about AUKUS and all things defence.
South Australia has just started producing military weapons. Until then, Australia did not have the capacity to produce its own missiles.
