Wales v Argentina: Rhys Carre given start with Louis Rees-Zammit on bench

Carre has not played for his country since 2023 and was previously ineligible under the Welsh Rugby Union’s (WRU) selection policy because he had made 20 caps; this was five short of the required number for those playing for clubs outside Wales.
But there are gaps, as evidenced by Wales’ selection of Jarrod Evans in the Six Nations earlier this year.
The Harlequins halfback also made fewer than 25 appearances but was denied a reasonable offer to stay at former club Cardiff.
The same appears to be true for Carre, who joined Saracens for the second time after leaving Cardiff last year.
Carre would be available to other countries in 2026, as it will be three years since he previously played for Wales.
Tandy said this did not contribute to the decision to recall the prop and he had confidence in Carre ahead of Nicky Smith, who was named on the bench.
Carre is in the front row alongside Ospreys hooker Dewi Lake and Cardiff prop Assiratti.
Locks Beard and Jenkins return to the second row after missing the summer tour in Japan.
After helping the British and Irish Lions win the series against Australia, Wales captain Morgan comes into the back row alongside Cardiff winger Alex Mann and Dragons number eight Aaron Wainwright.
Cracknell and Smith are joined on the bench by Freddie Thomas, Liam Belcher and Archie Griffin.
