Swedish DJ Alleges Copying of ‘Naache Naache’; Thaman Was Reluctant

A controversy has arisen around the song “Naache Naache” from Prabhas’ upcoming film The Raja Saab, with a Sweden-based DJ accusing the producers of copying his work.
Swedish DJ and music producer Vidojin claimed that the melody of “Naache Naache” is very similar to his independent track “Naache Naache Beat”, which he released in 2024. Vidojin claimed on social media that his song was composed and shared with the public long before the film version was announced, raising questions about its authenticity.
As a symbolic gesture of protest, the DJ shared a video showing slippers, which many interpreted as a sign of discontent. He called on music lovers to compare both tracks and decide. However, Vidojin was careful not to target actor Prabhas, clarifying that the actors had no role in the music-related decisions. In fact, he praised Prabhas and called him a great artist with a huge fan base.
Earlier, during the promotions of the film, the makers had claimed that “Naache Naache” was not an original composition but a reworked version inspired by a popular 1982 Bollywood disco number associated with the film Disco Dancer. Prabhas had earlier stated that the iconic Bollywood track was among his favourites, in a chat with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who described it as a blast from the past.
Music composer SS Thaman had earlier made his stand on remixes clear in media interactions. He said that he generally avoids remixing old songs and initially wanted to compose a fresh, high-energy song, especially since Prabhas was dancing with three heroines (Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan and Riddhi Kumar) in the serial.
Thaman said, “I don’t like doing remix songs. I would prefer a completely new, suggestive track like ‘Kurichi Madathapetti’.” “But this song was already engraved in the script. When director Maruthi and the producers thought that a retro remix was suitable for the situation where the hero meets three heroines at the same time, I agreed and did it without further discussion.”
While the debate continues online, the makers have not released an official statement so far.
