Runaway inflatable pumpkin spooks US police

US police are on the hunt for a runaway inflatable pumpkin after receiving calls that a large, orange inflatable had escaped.

Body camera footage from the Parma Heights Police Department in Ohio shows the inflatable pumpkin rolling down the street was difficult to grasp.

Officers eventually stopped and detained the inflatable pumpkin Tuesday night.

The footage shows an officer holding the giant plastic pumpkin and telling a colleague he was “following it” but “it just kept flying away”.

After he was caught, multiple cops tried to extinguish the pumpkin but were unsuccessful and had to work together to push the giant orange ball into the back of a police car.

“I’ve never seen this before,” a police officer is heard saying about the inflatable Halloween decoration stuffed in the backseat.

Officers then took the pumpkin back to his home, where it was displayed “for the enjoyment of all who pass by for the remainder of this fall season,” Parma Heights Police Department spokesman Sergeant Eric Taylor said in a statement.
