Wembley Downs: Teen charged with assaulting public officer after police shut down out-of-control party

A teenager has been charged with assaulting a public servant after a wild party at Wembley Downs on Saturday night.

Police said about 150 people spilled onto Hale Road around 8.15pm, where fights, shouting and large numbers of people led them to call for backup.

Regional Operations Group officers arrived to declare the situation an out-of-control gathering and ordered the crowd to disperse, which many did.

A 15-year-old boy was charged with assaulting a public official. His next hearing will be held in Perth Children’s Court on March 6.

A second boy, aged 15, was arrested for indecent behavior in public, but was later released and given a formal warning.

Police spent the rest of the night patrolling surrounding streets to check for any flare-ups.
