Jadavpur University authorities have postponed the board meeting scheduled for Friday, May 8, 2026, due to the political transition in West Bengal, where the BJP government will be sworn in on May 9, an official said.
He said academic issues, including postgraduate curriculum and approval to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) worth ₹ 50 lakh, are expected to be discussed in the meeting.
The university official said that the governor’s office, the chancellor of the state university, had contacted vice-chancellor Chiranjib Bhattacharjee on May 6 and advised that the meeting should not be held at a time when the new BJP government in West Bengal would be sworn in.
