West Bengal oath-taking updates: Suvendu Adhikari sworn in as first BJP CM of West Bengal, five other MLAs also take oath

Ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of the first BJP government in West Bengal today, security has been tightened at key places in Kolkata, including Chief Minister candidate Suvendu Adhikari’s residence, Brigade Parade Ground and outside former CM Mamata Banerjee’s Kalighat residence.

Heavy security was seen outside Mr Adhikari’s Chinar Park residence in Kolkata.

Security arrangements have also been intensified at the RCTC Ground, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to land before attending the ceremony.

A multi-layered security apparatus, including central forces and Kolkata Police personnel, was set up at the Brigade Parade, where the newly elected BJP government took oath ceremony.

The CRPF personnel were deployed outside Ms. Banerjee’s residence in Kalighat at a time when political activities were increasing in the city.
