Why you might actually be healthier if you put on weight

Is it healthy to lose some weight? He argues that tens of thousands of people are a study.

The new research presented to the annual meeting of the Diabetes Research Association in Vienna found that people with body mass index (BMI) at the lower end of the obese category and the lower end of the obese category were less likely to die less than the healthy weight range.

In addition, the middle and lower end of the normal weight range, BMI has found that they have the highest risk of mortality, such as individuals with BMI in the low weight range. A healthy BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9.

Dr Sigrid Bjerge Gribsholt of Aarhus University Hospital said: “Both low and obesity are large global health difficulties.

“There are contradictory findings about the BMI range connected to the lowest mortality. It was thought to be 20 to 25, but it may be changing upwards due to medical progress and improvements in general health.”

Researchers have examined the relationship between BMI and death in more than 85,000 people, 80 percent of them in Denmark.

During a follow -up, 8 percent of the participants died, and the low -category people died about three times more than BMI individuals at the top of the health range. Serious obese died twice compared to the reference population.

The probability of death at the lower end of the healthy weight range was twice as much, and the probability of people in the middle of the healthy weight range was 27 percent higher.

Those with BMI at the lower end of the overweight range or the lower end of the obese range were more likely to die more than the reference population. However, the likelihood of a significant obese was 23 percent higher.

Dr Gribsholt said: “A possible reason for the results is the opposite causality: some people can lose weight due to an underlying disease.

“In these cases, it is not the low weight that increases the risk of death, but a disease, which can ensure that it has a higher BMI.

“Nevertheless, in line with previous research, we have seen that people in the low weight range are facing a much higher risk of death.”

In the UK, the popularity of weight loss jabs continues to grow with 1.5 million people using injections such as Mounjaro or Wegovy to pour oil. The injected drug mimics a hormone released by your body after eating GLP-1, which slows down the digestion of your body, reduces appetite and makes you feel full.

JABs can be obtained through NHS, but a GP must first direct you to an expert weight management service. The vast majority of people using JABs pay specially and almost half of their users receive the drug without prescription.
