Announcing a series of programs on Wednesday, Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said that there will be a new light in the administration and a ‘Yuva Yuga’ will begin for the new generation, and that a special employment exchange will be established to solve unemployment problems in the state as Karnataka is a human resources capital.
Speaking generally about the idea, the new Prime Minister said that three Cabinet Ministers have been asked to prepare a plan within a month. “This will be similar to the previous government employment shift. I will talk to captains of industry, but we will not force employers. Majority of employment opportunities will be for Kannadigas. The government will also support training activities.” There will be no interference and everything will be online, he added.
Acknowledging the rural distress, he said, “There is a huge influx of people from rural areas migrating to Bengaluru in search of jobs and livelihood. We are thinking about how to stop the migration.”
He added that a meeting of farmer representatives will be held later to prepare a comprehensive plan for this. “I will use this opportunity to serve people and leave a legacy behind.”
About the formation of 10,000 Bharat Jodo Yuvakara Sangha, he said, “I have been thinking about this for almost 25 years. The government will provide ₹10 lakh each to the sanghas, which will have around 150 to 200 members. It will focus on sports, cultural activities, social harmony and leadership development.”
It also announced waiver of issuance of completion certificate for providing electricity and water connections to properties violating building regulations built on land up to 2,400 square meters and extension of ‘B’ Khata to ‘A’ Khata facilities for properties across the State.
At least ₹ 3,250 crore in new programs
The new schemes announced by Chief Minister DK Shivakumar are expected to cost at least ₹ 3,250 crore. While ₹2,000 crore has been allocated to improve road conditions in Bengaluru, financial assistance to the Bharat Jodo Yuvakara Sanghas will cost around ₹1,000 crore. The free bus pass facility is expected to cost around ₹250 crore.
“Since girls were already benefiting from the Shakti programme, only male students were being charged and some of them were also being refunded. Hence, the decision was taken to waive it,” said a source.
