Woman and child die after getting into ‘difficulty’ in water in west London | UK news

A woman and her young child died after experiencing “difficulty” in the water at a park in west London, police said.
The Metropolitan Police said officers were called to Elthorne Park in Ealing just before 4.30pm on Saturday, where a woman and her son were pulled from the water.
Both died at the scene, police said.
The Metropolitan Police said in a statement that the investigation was ongoing but their deaths were not treated as suspicious.
Police continue their efforts to identify the couple’s relatives.
Det Supt Pete Thackray, of the Met’s western area command, said: “This is a tragic incident in which a woman and her young child lost their lives. Our thoughts are with their loved ones.
“I would also like to thank the efforts of first responders and the public who did the best they could in an incredibly challenging situation.
“While the investigation into what happened is ongoing, initial indications are that the events are not suspicious.”
