A woman was found dead on the streets of a popular seaside town in England; Locals reported that the woman was discovered by passersby. An 18-year-old man is being held on suspicion of murder after the woman’s body was found in the Morfa area of Prestatyn, North Wales, just before 8.40am yesterday morning. North Wales Police are still at the scene today and have confirmed that additional officers will be deployed to the area this weekend to provide support to the local community. They added that police were “not actively looking” for anyone else in connection with the investigation.
Inspector Lee Boycott, of North Wales Police, said: “I can confirm we are not actively looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and I would like to reassure the community that there is no evidence to suggest there is a greater risk to the community.
“Full investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and we continue to ask people to avoid the area.
“The number of patrols will remain in place today and throughout the weekend to ensure our communities feel safe and secure following this incident.
“I would also ask people not to speculate about the incident online and to report any concerns or information to officers at the first opportunity.”
Police closed Dawson Drive and Coniston Drive and urged people to avoid the area. It is not yet known how or if the two locations are connected.
An autopsy is now planned.
Police added: “We will provide further information in due course. We would urge anyone with concerns or who may be able to assist our investigations to contact our officers in the community. You can also contact us via our website or by calling 101.”
