Part of this new funding will go towards the construction of the World War II building, the oldest remaining synagogue building in Wales. It will be used for the redevelopment of the grade-listed Merthyr Synagogue. Additionally, other funds will be used for the redevelopment of 1 Oxford Street to provide a boost to Swansea’s once-thriving main shopping street. Announcing the funding during a visit to the Biophilic Living project in Mowbray Yard, Swansea, Welsh Government Minister for Housing and Local Government Jayne Bryant said: “This funding isn’t just about infrastructure – it’s about creating real, tangible change for the people who live and work in these areas.

“By revitalizing town centres, supporting local businesses and improving public spaces, we help build places where communities can thrive both socially and economically.
