World Cup 2026: Belgium going out? Chris Sutton’s score predictions for second round of group games

After beating Uruguay and drawing with Spain, Cape Verde continues to surprise people in this World Cup.
But some of you weren’t caught this time.
While 99.65% of users who played the BBC’s new prediction game supported them losing against Spain, ‘only’ 83% thought they would also lose against Uruguay.
But some of the users’ predictions are accurate, and overall they are better than BBC Sport forecaster Chris Sutton and the AI.
Chris got 14 correct results in the second round of 24 group matches, compared to 12 correct results in the first set of fixtures.
The AI also performed better this time, going from 13 to 15/24, but users saw an even bigger improvement, with a score of 18/24 compared to 13 last time.
How will everyone perform in the final set, including Scotland-Brazil and England-Panama?
Chris predicts the outcome of all 104 matches at the World Cup and has also chosen the order in which he thinks each of the 12 groups will finish.
The AI’s predictions were created using Microsoft Copilot Chat. We simply asked the tool to ‘predict the results of the second round of World Cup group matches’.
A new BBC prediction game allows readers to pick the winner or draw of each match.
