WSW Sensitises 200 Students On Combatting Online Harassment
Hyderabad: Women Safety Wing (WSW) police organized an interactive awareness program called ‘Digital Dignity and Respect – Online Harassment’ here on Monday as part of the ‘Stand By Her’ campaign aimed at promoting the safety and respect of women and children in digital spaces. According to WSW Director General Charu Sinha, around 200 students from various universities participated in the discussions.
The session focused on raising awareness about responsible digital behavior and highlighted key aspects of digital dignity. Authorities explained the importance of respecting individual privacy, consent and personal boundaries online.
“Encouraging positive interactions and blocking abusive or harmful content, our officers have highlighted various forms of online harassment, including cyberstalking, trolling, bullying, doxxing and misuse of social media platforms,” DG Sinha said. he said.
The students were educated on the existing legal provisions under cyber laws and laws related to women’s safety and the importance of reporting incidents through appropriate channels such as cyber crime portals and police helplines. DGP communicates directly with students, encouraging them to become responsible digital citizens and actively intervene, report and support victims of online abuse.
