You can delete our posts, not our voices: CJP founder Dipke leads Jantar Mantar protest demanding Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation

Hundreds of students and young professionals gathered under heavy security at Jantar Mantar on Saturday as the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a youth-led online movement, staged a protest demanding accountability for alleged irregularities in examinations and recruitment tests and demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, who led the demonstration, accused the government of targeting the movement’s presence on social media rather than addressing its concerns.

“My friends, this is a long struggle. It has been a month since we started demanding Pradhan’s resignation on social media, but these people are so shameless that instead of taking action, they focused on other distractions like hacking our accounts, getting our posts deleted, etc. You can delete our posts, but you cannot delete us from this space,” Dipke said.

A large number of young people participated in the protest, including school and university students, job candidates and young professionals. Many participants wore cockroach masks, a symbol adopted by the movement, while others carried flowers and national flags. Many school students attended the demonstration with their parents.


Dipke, who arrived in Delhi on Saturday morning, said the atmosphere leading up to the protest was tense.
Recalling his to the capital, he said, “I was fully prepared to flight my freedom for this cause,” adding that moments before landing at Delhi airport he felt as though he was living through his final moments of freedom. The activist also took aim at what he described as a culture of fear, claiming many people had compromised under pressure.

“Lekin is desh ka chatra, nest nahi bika hai (The youth and students of this country did not sell themselves),” he said, drawing another round of applause from the crowd.

Dipke informed supporters that activist Sonam Wangchuk would be attending the meeting soon and thanked her for showing solidarity with the movement. Wangchuk openly supported the protest and said he would go on a six-week fast if Dipke was arrested.

The protest was organized around demands for accountability for alleged irregularities linked to examinations and recruitment tests, including NEET, CBSE, CUET and SSC exams.

Anticipating a massive turnout, Delhi Police has stepped up security arrangements in the national capital. Additional personnel have been deployed at Indira Gandhi International Airport, border entry points and other sensitive points, officials said.

More than 1,000 police personnel have been deployed as a precautionary measure in New Delhi and other strategic areas.

In the days before the demonstration, CJP distributed guidelines urging participants to avoid confrontations and maintain nonviolent behavior. Dipke reiterated those instructions Saturday and called for law enforcement to be treated respectfully throughout the protest.
