A man has been taken to hospital in a critical condition following a “serious assault” in Dublin city center in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The incident occurred in Hawkins Street, Dublin 2, at around 12.20pm and the victim, a man in his 20s, was taken to Beaumont Hospital with serious injuries. condition remains critical.
A Garda spokesman said: “Gardaí are appealing for witnesses in relation to a serious assault which occurred in Hawkins Street, Dublin 2, at approximately 12.20pm on Sunday 5 July 2026.
“A man in his 20s was brought to Beaumont Hospital to be treated for serious injuries and remains in a critical condition. Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward.
“Anyone who was in the vicinity of Hawkins Street between 12:00 and 12:30 on Sunday morning, July 5, 2026, and has camera footage, including dashcam footage, is asked to make this available to Gardaí investigations.”
