Zelenskiy Hints Security Guarantees May Substitute NATO Bid

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has signaled that Ukraine may accept security guarantees from the United States and Europe as a way to prevent future Russian aggression and replace its long-term goal of joining NATO. Kiev has changed its rhetoric amid continued reluctance from the United States and some European partners and Washington’s efforts to end the nearly four-year war.
