₹31,763‑crore Push For SC Welfare

Hyderabad: Highlighting that ₹ 31,763 crore has been spent on Scheduled Caste development and education programs under the current government, Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman said Telangana’s welfare model sets a benchmark.

Addressing Chintan Shivir 2026 Held by the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in Chandigarh, the Minister confirmed that the governance model under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, which focuses on equality, empowerment and dignity, has made significant investments in education and scholarships.

He emphasized the need for greater coordination between the Center and States to advance social justice and advocated wider adoption of digital governance tools to increase transparency and speed in welfare delivery.

Describing education as a key driver of social transformation, Laxman said the state has spent ₹574.74 crore on Post-Matric Scholarships, benefiting 3.39 lakh students, and spent ₹66.31 crore on Pre-Matric Scholarships covering 73,666 students.

Under the Dr BR Ambedkar Overseas Education Fund, ₹103.49 crore was spent to support 564 students pursuing higher education abroad. Additionally, ₹24.53 crore was invested in TG SC Study Circles, enabling 2,426 candidates to receive coaching for competitive exams, including Civil Services.
