Oil prices rise after Trump says a ‘massive Armada is heading to Iran’

Crude oil prices rose Wednesday after President Donald Trump warned Iran that a “massive Armada” was heading toward it and time was running out to reach an agreement on its nuclear program.
Global benchmark Brent It rose 55 cents, or 0.81%, to $68.12 a barrel as of ET. US crude oil oil rose 63 cents, or 1.01%, to $63.02.
“A huge navy is heading towards Iran. It is advancing rapidly with great power, enthusiasm and purpose,” Trump said. a post Wednesday on social media platform Truth Social.

Trump had threatened to attack Iran if it killed protesters during mass unrest earlier this month. Thousands of people died after the Islamic Republic suppressed the unrest. But the US president has so far avoided military intervention.
Trump said the fleet deployed to the Middle East was larger than the forces he ordered the United States to send to the Caribbean before capturing former Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
“As in Venezuela, it is ready, willing and able to carry out its mission quickly and with force if necessary,” Trump said of the carrier strike group in a social media post Tuesday.
He called on Tehran to make a deal on its nuclear program.
Trump said, “Time is running out, it’s really important! As I told Iran before, MAKE A DEAL!” he said.
The president has warned Iran that a possible attack would be worse than the bombing campaign he ordered against the Islamic Republic’s nuclear facilities last June.
“The next attack will be much worse! Don’t do this again,” he said.
