37 Indian-flagged Ships With 1,109 Sailors Stuck in Persian Gulf, Gulf of Oman

NEW DELHI: As many as 37 Indian-flagged ships with more than 1,000 sailors are stranded in the Persian Gulf, Gulf of Oman and adjoining maritime areas as the main shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz is closed due to ongoing military operations involving the US, Israel and Iran.

While some ships carry crude oil and LNG to Indian ports, others bring oil products from the Gulf countries.

A total of 37 Indian flagged ships with 1,109 sailors on board were stranded in the Persian Gulf, Gulf of Oman and adjoining sea areas due to the closure of the main shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz, an official aware of the developments told PTI.
