Rajasthan Cabinet approves first sports university, simplifies family pension rules

On Friday, September 19, 2025, the Rajasthan Cabinet approved the proposal to establish the first sports university in Jaipur, and decided to simplify the family retirement rules for the parents and disabled children of the deceased employees, as well as reviewing the NRI quota wage structure at medical colleges.

Rajasthan Prime Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma chaired the cabinet meeting.

The draft Sports University, named after the legendary Rajput ruler Maharaana Pratap, will be presented at the next session of the State Assembly. The university, which was initially announced in the 2024-25 state budget, will encourage research on sports technology and performance analysis and will develop distinguished coaches and sports experts.

Deputy Prime Minister Prem Chand Bairwa said that the cabinet, in 1996 Rajasthan Legal Services (Pension) rules, a family retirement of up to 50% to the parents of the dead government employees, and even after their marriage provided benefits to disabled sons and daughters.

Bairwa said that changes would provide a more “inclusive and compassionate support to the families of government employees. NRI fees will be 2.5 times the management quota fees, which are 23.93 lakh per year, starting from the 2025-26 academic session.

Other decisions taken at the cabinet meeting are related to archeology and museum service with the creation of new tasks that will facilitate early promotions in state allocation and career growth in state tourism services.
