Bihar Elections 2025: Tejashwi promises Rs 30,000 to women on Makar Sankranti

RJD leader and Opposition alliance’s chief ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday raised the promise of providing financial assistance of ₹ 2,500 per month to economically disadvantaged women under the ‘Mai Bahin scheme’, just ahead of the first phase of voting in the Bihar assembly elections on November 6.

“We have now decided that ₹30,000 (of the entire year) will be transferred in advance to the accounts of all women in the state on Makar Sankranti under the Mai Bahin scheme,” Yadav said at a press conference in Patna. he said.

The announcement was aimed at counteracting the impact of ₹10,000 cash transfer made by the NDA government under the ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana’. To date, the money has been transferred by the government to 14.1 million women.
The RJD leader also announced that if the INDIA bloc comes to power in Bihar, farmers will be given ₹300 per paddy and ₹400 for wheat as bonus on minimum support price.

“We also plan to give remuneration to the heads of 8,400 registered primary marketing cooperative societies (vyapar mandals) and primary agricultural credit societies (PACS) in the state. If we form the government, the heads of all PACS and vyapar mandals will also be given people’s representative status,” Yadav said. he said.
