Man in stolen car in Tokyo hits 11 people, kills one

According to reports in the Japanese media, a man driving a stolen car hit 11 people in Tokyo, killing one and seriously injuring a woman.

The driver was taken into custody after fleeing.

Police had no immediate comment.

Kyodo News reported that a seriously injured man in his 80s was confirmed dead.

According to Nippon TV, a woman in her 20s was seriously injured and lost consciousness.

Nine more people were injured.

Initial media reports stated that 12 people were shot.

The report stated that the car, which was a stolen vehicle, was heading towards a pedestrian walkway.

Nippon TV said police arrested a 37-year-old man who fled the scene.
