India hits back at Pakistan over Ram Temple flag hoisting comment, MEA asks Islamabad to…

India has criticized Pakistan’s criticism of the Ram Temple flag hoisting, urging Islamabad to instead examine its own human rights violations and oppression of minorities.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted a flag atop the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Reacting strongly to Pakistan’s comment on the Ram Temple flag-raising ceremony, India strongly condemned it and advised Islamabad to look at its dismal human rights record, which has a long record of bigotry and oppression of minorities. Speaking at a media briefing, MEA official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “Pakistan should focus on its own abysmal human rights record rather than giving hypocritical sermons.”

He also said: “We have seen the reported statements and reject them with the contempt they deserve. As a country with a deeply tainted record of bigotry, oppression and systemic mistreatment of minorities, Pakistan has no moral standing to teach others.” Jaiswal added: “Instead of preaching hypocritical sermons, Pakistan would do better to turn its gaze inward and focus on its own abysmal human rights record.”

MEA Condemns Pakistan

He responded to Pakistan trying to draw the attention of the international community to the flag hoisting by calling it an example of “Islamophobia” and “disrespect for heritage”, referring to the demolition of the Babri Masjid on 6 December 1992. In its official statement the day before, the Islamic country attacked the government and judiciary that allowed the construction of the Ram Mandir, describing it as “the discriminatory approach of the Indian state towards minorities”.

In a ceremony on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the sacred saffron flag atop the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. This meant that the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple was officially completed, more than a year after its consecration.
