Lok Sabh Functions Smoothly; Takes up Question Hour

New Delhi: The Lok Sabha resumed Question Hour uninterrupted for the first time in the ongoing Winter session on Wednesday, a day after the deadlock was broken over the opposition’s demand for a debate on SIR.

In the meeting held on Tuesday evening, chaired by Speaker Om Birla, it was decided to hold a debate in the Lok Sabha on the 150th anniversary of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ next Monday and on electoral reforms next Tuesday.

As soon as the parliament met that day, obituaries were issued for former members who had recently passed away. The Parliament then moved on to Question Time. Since the session began on Monday, opposition members have disrupted the proceedings demanding discussion on the ongoing exercise of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in nine states and three Union territories.
