Truckers’ strike suspended till Jul 30 over Maharashtra govt’s assurance on e-challans, other issues

On Friday evening, Maharashtra truckers suspended their three-day strikes by the end of the month after the state government on e-Callan and other issues.

The decision arrived after the meeting of the State Minister of Transportation Pratap Sarnaik and the truckers, and the Chief Secretary of the Chief Minister Chahal in Mangalaya in the early hours of the day.

The strike began to protest against the E-Callan system for traffic violations on Wednesday. Bus operators supported the strike, following the appeal of CM Devendra Fadnavis.
After the meeting, Vahatukdar Bachao Kruti Sanghatatan, an action committee of the carriers addressing the strike, decided to give the state government until July 30th.

“The state government made sure that the police would not give e-Callans for small violations such as parking or stopping in fuel pumps until the end of this month. The state government was confident that the union government would raise the compulsory or assistant requirement for heavy vehicles.” He said.


Despite the problems of manpower shortage, truckers are fined for not having cleaners, “the cancellation of the E-Callans, who was wrongly exported, was one of our great demands. The Maharashtra government said that the government accepted the compelling of more than 90 days.

The leaders of the transport associations claim that the strike has received a mixed response in the last three days, Navi Mumbai, Mumbai, Than, Pune and so on.
