Supreme Court refuses to hear HDFC Bank CEO Sashidhar Jagdishan’s plea seeking to quash Lilavati Trust FIR
New DELHI: On Friday, the Supreme Court made an objection by Sashidhar Jagdishan, General Manager and General Manager of HDFC Bank, and sought an urgent hearing in a petition to break an oven against Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta, who ruled Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital.
The Supreme Court of Bombay refused to intervene in a bench of Justicees PS Narasimha and R. Mahadevan for planning the trial on July 14th. The APEX Court said that the Supreme Court did not want to intervene in the trials and wanted the case to hear the case on a fixed date.
The counter, “If you haven’t heard then come here. After rejecting the bench in June and on the bench, we are sympathetic. We understand it. But now,” he said.
Jagdishan approached the Supreme Court after rejecting the judges of the Supreme Court of Bombs, led to delays.
Senior lawyer Mukul Rohatgi, who appeared for Jagdishan, argued that Fir caused serious reputation damage to the bank.
“We have no hearing in the High court for the last three weeks. I am MD. I have nothing to do [with this matter]. I’m rope, the bank is suffering. I want temporary protection until the subject is heard. The bank was dragged into a special dispute. The idea is to call him to the police station. It affects my personal reputation, Ro Rohatgi said.
The background of the dispute
In April, Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust approached the first year of the judiciary and sought an investigation into Jagdishan’s abuse.
According to a complaint made by the son of Late Kishor Mehta (former director of SPLENDOR GEMS LTD), Jagdishan’s bribe is claimed to have accepted his bribe La2.05 Crore between March and June 2022 to provide strategic advice to help the Chetan Mehta group control over the management of trust.
The complaint watched his origins to a long -standing financial dispute. In 1995, Splendor Gems used loans from a consortium led by HDFC Bank. After the default, the rescue operations started in 2002 and in 2004, the debt ordering court ordered a repayment. La16 % interest 14.74 crore. Prashant Mehta claimed that his father’s death in 2024 was due to “mental and physical harassment” due to the healing process of the bank. After taking responsibility for the company, Jagdishan claimed that he had discovered daily entries showing payments.
On May 29, the Judicial Judiciary Bandon Police directed the IPC sections 406 (confidence violation), 409 (confidence violation by the banker/public official) and 420 (cheating) and investigated the allegations. Two days later, the Bandon Police Fir was recorded by Jagdishan, Chetan Mehta and six people. Chetan Mehta, Phoenix Arc Pvt. LTD and others for the claim of passing money on embezzlement La2.25 Crore from trust.

Additional claims
Güven also claimed that Jagdishan abused his position on HDFC Bank to intervene in internal governance, and that he and his family received free medical treatment from Lilavati Hospital, which was never accepted. He also claimed a potential conflict of interest, stating that trust has deposits and investments. La48 Crore with HDFC Bank since 2022.
The complaint claimed this La1.5 Crore is presented as alleged CSR funds to facilitate the destruction or fraud of evidence of internal disputes.
Jagdishan then approached the Supreme Court of Bombay last week and tried to break the May 29 order and the Fir, remained temporary about investigation and protection from a compelling action.
However, on June 30, the Supreme Court refused to receive emergency assistance and planned for July 14.
