High Court unlikely to agree Reddit’s not a social media plaftform

Reddit is asking the High Court of Australia to rule that it is not a social media platform and therefore should not have to follow the rules Social media account ban for under 16s.

The US-based web forum’s Supreme Court case raises two issues. First, it raises the same constitutionally implied freedom of political communication issue raised in a lawsuit filed last month. Two 15 year old teenagersThe case will be heard by the Supreme Court in February.

Second, it asks the Supreme Court to rule that Reddit falls outside the scope of the law even if it applies.
