Russell Brand bashes ex-wife Katy Perry’s relationship with former Canadian Prime Minister: ‘I was okay with Orlando Bloom, but Justin Trudeau?’
Russell Brand criticized ex-wife Katy Perry’s relationship with Justin Trudeau at a Turning Point USA meeting in Phoenix on Thursday, calling the former Canadian Prime Minister a ‘globalist stooge.’
While speaking to a conservative audience for the band founded by the late Charlie Kirk, the outspoken entertainer, 50, opened up about his former marriage to the Firework singer, 41, from 2010 to 2012.
Brand also linked politics to Perry’s new love affair with left-wing politician No. 53.
‘Look, Katy Perry, I was married to her,’ the Get Him to the Greek star said. ‘I still love her and I’m glad her mother was in the room to hear me say it – but look.’
Brand said Perry’s relationship with Trudeau rubbed him the wrong way because he wasn’t that impressed by her past romance with 48-year-old actor Orlando Bloom.
‘I was on good terms with Orlando Bloom, but Justin Trudeau?’ Brand said. ‘Come on man! ‘Don’t put me in the same category as that guy.’

Brand, 50, called the former Canadian Prime Minister, 53, who has been linked to the Roar artist, 41, for months a ‘globalist stooge’
Trudeau, who served as Canada’s prime minister from 2015 to 2025, and the Roar artist were first spotted dining at Montreal restaurant Le Violon in late July.
Perry and Bloom announced their separation earlier this year; They are the parents of five-year-old daughter Daisy.
Trudeau and his ex-wife Sophie Grégoire separated in 2023; They are also parents to 16-year-old daughter Ella-Grace Margaret Trudeau.
The I Kissed a Girl singer and Trudeau made it official on Instagram earlier this month after months of public speculation about how serious they were as a duo.
On Dec. 4, Trudeau reposted a photo of himself and his girlfriend posing for photos with former Japanese prime minister Fumio Kishida and his wife, Yuko Kishida.
Brand is wrapping up a difficult 2025 in which he has been charged with five counts of assault and rape based on accusations from four women in England.
Brand was first accused of sexual assault more than two years ago, in September 2023, when a total of five women made allegations about his behavior in an article by multiple media outlets (The Sunday Times, The Times and Channel 4’s Dispatches).
Brand said he ‘absolutely denies’ all allegations made against him; He will be tried in June 2026.
Brand also brought politics into the discussion about Perry’s new relationship with left-wing politicians, speaking to a conservative audience for the group founded by the late Charlie Kirk
Perry and her ex-fiancé Orlando Bloom attended the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in Los Angeles last March.
