British boy, 13, stabbed to death in Portugal, say reports | Portugal

A 13-year-old British boy was reportedly stabbed to death in Portugal.
The country’s Judicial Police said it was investigating the deaths of the teenager, identified in local media as a British citizen, and the alleged perpetrator, who police said was his mother’s former partner.
Police said in a statement that the mother “was found by authorities showing signs of being restrained and assaulted and was subsequently taken to the nearest hospital.”
“Both the suspected attacker and the minor suffered multiple injuries caused by a bladed weapon, but although vital signs were still detectable, death was declared at the scene a few minutes later.”
Police said the National Republican Guard (GNR) responded to the incident in the town of Tomar after receiving an alert about a suspected domestic violence situation.
“There was a strong smell of gas inside the house, which led to an explosion a few minutes later, injuring one of the GNR officers,” police said in a statement.
“The alleged perpetrator had already served a prison sentence for aggravated murder and the family had been flagged following recorded cases of domestic violence in 2022 and 2023.”
The Foreign Office said: “Following an incident in Portugal, we are in contact with local authorities and stand ready to provide consular support.”
