State Plans Flyover from ICCC to Shilpa to Ease Traffic Snarls

Hyderabad: The state government plans to construct a 9-km elevated corridor from the Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) in Banjara Hills to the Shilpa Layout Flyover Road.

This project is expected to ease traffic congestion in many places. Road 45 Jubilee Hills, Film Nagar, Jubilee Hills Checkpost are some of the bottlenecks from which passengers will breathe a sigh of relief. This elevated corridor will also ease traffic on the road leading to Meenakshi Towers and Hitec City. In addition, this corridor will also facilitate traffic from the city to Nanakramguda and other offices in the Financial District via Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills.

Similarly, in addition to IT employees and personnel working in companies in the Financial District, residents living in dozens of public housing in the Financial District will also benefit from this project. This elevated corridor will be used to enter and exit the central city via the Outer Ring Road area via Banjara Hills.

This project will be undertaken by Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA). “We are also hiring consultants for preparation of detailed project report (DPR) for the construction of Elevated Corridor to Shilpa Settlement Flyover Road from ICCC,” said an HMDA official.

Recently, this is the third elevated corridor proposed by HMDA and the other two projects are Paradise Junction to Shamirpet ORR and Paradise Junction to Dairy Farm Road on NH-44.

“We want to design the flyover in such a way that if Metro Rails connecting Banjara Hills and Shilpa Layout Flyover Road comes up, the same scaffolding system in the elevated corridor should be used,” said an HMDA official.

“A study will be carried out to check the number of properties that need to be acquired, environmental impact, traffic assessments and other aspects, with the ‘same scaffolding system’ also being a factor,” he added.
