Prince Harry will ask King Charles to open the Invictus Games next year as he tries to mend their broken relationship. The Duke of Sussex has seen relations with his family deteriorate since stepping down from the royal family but has publicly stated his desire to be reunited with his father.

It has now been reported that the 41-year-old can prepare to welcome his father to the stage at the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham next July. Sources have suggested that both Harry and the King are keen to end their feud.

A source said: “Prince Harry would love to have Charles at Invictus and wants him to open the games with him.

“Harry wants this to happen for both the games and their relationship. It’s his dream to have his father around.”

More explanation SunThey added: “This is appropriate because Invictus returns to the UK for the first time since 2014 and given Charles is Head of the Armed Forces.

“Invictus always invites Heads of State, but Harry wants to go even further with Charles being involved in the opening ceremony. The Games represent a cause close to both of their hearts.”

They also described the chance for both of them to take part in the Invictus Games as “an excellent opportunity for them to work with each other.”

Talking about what it might look like for Royal fans, they added: “Seeing them on stage when it opens will be heart-warming and in keeping with the spirit of the occasion.”

Founded by Harry in 2014, The Invictus Games was inspired by The Warrior Games in the USA.

It is unknown whether Meghan Markle and her children, six-year-old Prince Archie and four-year-old Princess Lilibet, will join Harry at the Games next year.
