Two people were arrested by KPHB police on Wednesday in connection with a case of medical negligence that led to the death of a 66-year-old woman in May 2025.

The names of the defendants were stated as 46-year-old Penumatsa Srinivas Phanivarama and 38-year-old Subramanyam Udayagiri. During the arrests, two smartphones belonging to the defendant were seized.

The case dates back to May 6, 2025, when the woman visited MedQuest Diagnostic Center at KPHB Colony for a CT scan after complaining of runny nose. During the procedure, contrast dosage was administered before scanning. Shortly after, it was reported that he developed complications and suffered a sudden heart attack. He died on the way while being taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Following the incident, KPHB police registered a case under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and initiated a detailed investigation. During the investigation, investigators collected certificates submitted by staff administering the contrast dose and sought verification from the District Medical and Health Officer as to whether the relevant staff member was authorized to perform the procedure.
