Met Office names 31 areas facing snow on Thursday – full list | Weather | News

The UK is set to be hit by extreme weather in the Arctic, with widespread snowfall falling in up to 31 locations across the country. The Met Office has identified areas where widespread snow could fall tomorrow, February 4, and winter lovers will be pleased to hear that large parts of the country could see snow.
Yellow rain weather warnings are in place for south-west England and south Wales tomorrow, with a risk of rainfall exceeding 30mm in a few locations. Meanwhile, 10-20 mm of rain is expected to fall over a wide area by the end of Thursday. The weather warning, which will start at 5 am tomorrow morning, will continue until 23.59 that night.
“Given widely saturated ground conditions, low impact surface water flooding is likely, particularly with difficult driving conditions resulting from spray, running water or flooded roads,” a Met Office spokesman said.
There is a separate 18-hour yellow rain warning for Grampian in Scotland, as well as Central, Tayside & Fife. The warning went into effect at 18:00 on January 5 and will remain in effect until noon tomorrow.
The forecaster then predicts that the rain will turn to snow.
A Met Office spokesman said: “15-30mm of rain is likely to fall over a fairly wide area, with 30-40mm possible in some places.
“It is also possible that the snow will melt some. On Thursday morning, the rain will begin to turn into snow above 300-400 meters.”
The weather agency also predicts snow could fall “in North Wales, the Pennines and the Scottish Highlands”.
Winds will be strong from the north and temperatures will be around average.
