Wayne Rooney’s son Kai scores FOUR times as Man United U16s beat Norwich in 10-goal thriller

Kai Rooney continued his impressive rise through the Manchester United youth ranks by scoring four goals against Norwich’s U16 side.

The 16-year-old, the son of United legend Wayne, has been in the club’s academy since the age of 11 and made his debut for the U18 team at Old Trafford last month.

Kai put in another strong performance as United’s U16 side beat the Canaries’ youth team 6-4 in the Premier League Cup semi-final on Saturday.

Posing with the match ball after the match, Kai shared his photo with his 400,000 Instagram followers.

‘PL cup semi-final. 6-4 victory against Norwich. “Four (football emoji),” he wrote.

He later shared a photo of his number 7 jersey in the locker room after the match.

It comes just two days after The Sun reported that Kai, along with a ‘very strong’ group of 13 other youngsters, had been offered a new £50,000-a-year scholarship deal by the club.

The talented group is said to include Jacey Carrick, son of Michael, who is United’s current interim manager.

Kai made his debut against Derby County’s U18 side at the Theater of Dreams in late January.

The decision of Darren Fletcher, one of Wayne Rooney’s former teammates, caused chants of ‘Rooney, Rooney’ in the audience of 2000 people.

As mum Coleen and dad Wayne sat next to Carrick in the stands, the youngster took it all in stride.

Carrick said of his decision to attend: “My message of support is, I’m coming to watch and I’m excited.”

‘I was lucky enough to play for West Ham when I was younger and win the FA Youth Cup.

‘This is a very important competition, especially for this club. Young players are under the lights of Old Trafford, they feel what it means, a bit of expectation.’

In August, Kai was trying to make a name for himself in football by saying he was not trying to be his father.

‘I am my own person,’ he said. ‘I want to see how my career goes, of course I try to do my best and reach the biggest stages.

‘I just focus on myself and try not to let any pressure get to me and continue to work on myself day by day, month by month.’
