The State Cabinet on Thursday approved the Karnataka Freedom of Choice in Marriage and Prevention and Prohibition of Crimes in the Name of Dignity and Custom (Eva Nammava Eva Nammava) Bill, 2026.
The decision came at the Cabinet meeting late on Thursday night and is likely to be included in the ongoing Budget session of the legislature. Sources said the bill comes with some changes compared to the previous law. The Cabinet also approved the Advertising Policy 2026.
₹800 cr. new stadium
The State Cabinet also cleared the ground for a new international stadium to be built in Surya Nagar Phase 4 in Anekal taluk.
While the initial plan was to build KHB Surya Sports Village on an area of 75 acres at a cost of ₹ 1,980 crore, the Cabinet decided to go ahead with the stadium project only.
The state government conceptualized the new stadium concept after the tragic stampede in front of the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during RCB’s first IPL victory celebrations in which 11 people lost their lives.
