Iranian among two charged over alleged attempt to enter UK nuclear submarine base | UK news

Two people, one Iranian, have been charged with allegedly trying to enter HM Naval Base Clyde in Scotland, where Britain’s nuclear Trident submarines are located.
Following the incident at the base known as Faslane, a criminal complaint was filed against a 34-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman. Police Scotland said investigations were ongoing and the pair would appear at Dumbarton sheriff court on Monday.
A police spokesman said: “We learned that at around 5pm on Thursday 19 March 2026, two men attempted to enter HM Naval Base Clyde.
“A 34-year-old Iranian man and a 31-year-old Romanian woman were arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
Faslane is home to the core of the UK’s submarine fleet and Trident nuclear weapons.
The Royal Navy had previously announced that two people tried to enter the base but were unsuccessful.
