Girl, 16, who died after she was found lying unconscious on street in Leeds was stabbed in the back: Four people are arrested over ‘murder’

It was revealed today that the 16-year-old girl, who was found unconscious on the street, was stabbed in the back.
Police were called just before 6am on Saturday to reports that a young woman was found unresponsive in the quiet Austhorpe suburb of Leeds, West Yorkshire.
It was announced that the seriously injured woman was taken to the hospital for treatment, but died a short time later.
Today neighbor Wayne Mallows told how he and other residents tried to save the ‘lifeless’ girl, named locally as Chloe Watson.
The 64-year-old man told the Daily Mail that he performed CPR on the teenager on the sidewalk near his home.
‘I was called home by a dog walker at around 5.50am on Saturday morning,’ he said.
‘He said my neighbor was outside doing CPR on a young girl. He was starting to get tired.
‘I asked if they had called the ambulance and then I noticed there was a phone on the floor and it was on speaker. Ambulance control was giving him instructions.
‘I took over until the ambulance arrived 10 minutes later. He had been stabbed in the back and there was a lot of blood. ‘His eyes were empty.’

Officers were called to Kennerleigh Avenue, a quiet street of bungalows in the Leeds suburb of Austhorpe, at 5.55am on Saturday, March 28. Neighbors performed CPR to save daughter
According to police, Chloe did not live in the area but was traveling from Cleckheaton, approximately 13 miles from the scene.
The man who answered the door at Chloe’s mother’s house was too upset to comment. A few floral tributes and cards were left outside.
Tonight, on the fundraising page prepared by her cousin Shantelle, it was claimed that Chloe’s ‘whole life was suddenly destroyed because of a boy’.
‘The 16-year-old young man (he) didn’t even make it to 18,’ Shantelle said.
‘His mother is devastated, she left her two younger siblings behind…she didn’t deserve this. ‘She was so full of life, such an innocent and beautiful soul that was taken over so quickly.’
Four young people, two 18-year-old girls and two boys aged 17 and 19, have been arrested on suspicion of the teenager’s murder and are being questioned by police officers.
On Saturday police issued a request for information to identify the green-eyed girl, who had fixed braces on her teeth, but today announced she had been ‘positively identified’ and her family was being supported by specially trained officers.
Mr Mallows said he struggled to get the image of the girl’s face out of his mind.
‘When the ambulance arrived around 6am the paramedics removed all the kit and tried to reactivate the heart and were doing chest compressions,’ he added.
‘They did this for about five minutes and then they put him in the ambulance. The police were constantly coming.
‘I have a picture of his face in my mind.
‘He looked very young to me, under 16.’
He added that she was ‘wearing a slightly beige jacket and a dress and thick socks.’
After the murder investigation was launched, expert forensic teams closed the road to traffic and examined the area for evidence.
Chloe’s relatives were too upset to speak and are being cared for by specialist trained police officers.
Detective Superintendent Marc Bowes, of West Yorkshire Police, said this was a very ‘complex’ investigation and appealed for witnesses.
A bunch of roses and chrysanthemums were left outside Chloe’s mother’s house in Cleckheaton
Mr Mallows said Kennerleigh Avenue in the city’s Austhorpe suburb, where Chloe is located, consisted mostly of elderly people’s bungalows and was generally very quiet.
‘There are mostly older people in the bungalows, they come here to retire,’ he added.
Extensive tributes to the teenagers were posted online on Facebook and TikTok.
One read: ‘Rest in eternal peace beautiful girl, you (sic) were loved by so many and will be missed forever.’
Another wrote: ‘Your bubbly personality, your quirky laugh, your embarrassing jokes will forever be unique. ‘You always made everyone feel small and unloved… it’s truly devastating.’
Detective Superintendent Marc Bowes, who is leading West Yorkshire Police’s murder hunt, appealed to anyone who was in the area and witnessed what happened.
‘This is an extremely complex investigation in which a young woman has sadly lost her life,’ he said.
‘We are treating his death as murder and have arrested four people in connection with it.
‘I would also like to speak to anyone who was in the Kennerleigh Avenue area in the early hours of this morning or who may have seen any suspicious activity nearby.’
