Baywatch star David Hasselhoff, 73, looks frail as he leans on wife in first public sighting after surgeries

David Hasselhoff looked gaunt on Monday when he was spotted for the first time in months while taking a walk in nature with wife Hayley Roberts.

But the 73-year-old Baywatch icon, who is equipped with two trekking poles to tackle the rugged terrain in Calabasas, California, is actually on the rise after undergoing both knee and hip replacement surgery, the Daily Mail has learned.

A representative for Hasselhoff previously revealed that he underwent medical procedures after being spotted needing a wheelchair at Los Angeles’ LAX airport.

They added that the actor is doing well now as he is focused on recovery.

Hasseholff, who was last photographed in public in July 2025, relied on trekking poles for support as he walked through the bush, and at one point Roberts also held his arm as if to steady him.

Their trip comes as a new generation of stars and influencers are filming reshoots of Hasselhoff’s most popular series, Baywatch.

In addition to holding his arm, Roberts, 45, was also seen standing behind her husband at another moment and placing her hands on his sides, seemingly to steady him.

While Hasselhoff sportily wore a light gray T-shirt and dark sweatpants, Roberts, who is nearly thirty years younger than her husband, wore a slightly cropped white T-shirt, black tights, and a teal baseball cap over her blonde curls.

Her husband, whose once dark hair was now mostly gray, wore a black hat and sunglasses with dark plastic frames.

Despite his age and recent mobility issues, Hasselhoff has managed to stay in impressive form.

He and his wife appeared to be hiking in an area full of tall grass, where trekking poles would probably be helpful.

Although Hasselhoff did not appear to have previously disclosed that he had undergone knee and hip replacement surgery, he did tell photographers in July that he planned to have knee surgery when he was seen limping through LAX during a trip to Cancun.

Hasselhoff also had to be pushed into a wheelchair by an airline representative for part of his time at the airport.

Hasselhoff had struggled with alcohol addiction in the past; An example of this is the 2007 leak of a video taken by his daughter, Taylor Ann, in which she was clearly drunk.

In the tense video, he questioned her about her drinking and worried it might hurt her role in the Las Vegas production of The Producers, in which she was starring at the time.

After the clip was released, Hasselhoff claimed that it was deliberately done by his daughter to expose his behavior when he was drunk.

Hasselhoff’s hike comes just a year after the tragic death of his second wife and former Baywatch star Pamela Bach (filmed in Los Angeles in 2023). Bach, who was only 62 years old, was found dead in his home in March 2025 after committing suicide.
