Resurfaced video of Disneyland worker ruining marriage proposal by snatching ring sparks fierce backlash
It’s supposed to be the Most Magical Place on Earth. But for one couple, their trip to Disneyland Paris was far from magical as a worker completely ruined their marriage proposal.
In the footage, the man can be seen getting down on one knee on the platform in front of Cinderella Castle, when suddenly a Disney employee jumps between them and dramatically grabs the ring from the man’s hand.
The incident first occurred in 2022, but the video resurfaced this week, sparking fierce backlash for the Disney employee.
“It’s NEVER as serious as it is weird, sorry,” one X (ex-Twitter) user wrote while sharing the clip on Sunday.
It has since garnered more than 18 million views and outraged social media users around the world.
‘I would instinctively fight that guy who snatched that ring from my hand, IDGAF, we don’t touch what you won’t pay for,’ one person fumed.
‘Dude literally grabbed the ring like it was a crime scene. “It’s never *this* serious in the Happiest Place on Earth,” wrote another.
“The overzealous guy should have let them complete the process before giving them advice,” another chimed in.

A fifth said: ‘He takes his minimum wage job too seriously.’
“We can tell her life sucks outside of work because she doesn’t need to ruin her moments like this,” a different user said.
‘What a disgrace,’ wrote another.
But others defended the employee and theorized that the stage where the couple stood was off-limits to guests.
‘It’s not strange that he’s doing his job. “What’s weird is that you don’t realize it’s HIS JOB and the guests are blatantly disobeying the signs and getting on stage for whatever reason,” one person wrote.
‘Your proposal is perfect for you, why don’t you do it somewhere else in the park, why should you do it on stage?’
Suddenly, the magical moment was cut short when a Disney employee jumped between them and dramatically took the ring from her hand.
The pair walked down the stairs and when they reached the bottom the staff handed the ring back and said: ‘That’s the rule.’
‘No he’s not weird about it! What people need to know is that they need to follow instructions!’ someone else insisted.
‘Every company has rules and regulations and employees follow them.’
Another said, ‘If you don’t want your personal belongings to be stolen to get out of the restricted areas, don’t be in the restricted areas.’
The video was first posted on Reddit in June 2022 by a friend of the couple, who claimed the man had ‘asked for permission in advance’ to go on the platform.
In the footage, the pair can be seen standing on stage while the man gets down on one knee.
The woman covered her mouth in surprise as the man removed the ring and the crowd around them cheered.
But the magical moment was soon cut short when an overzealous Disney employee entered the frame, grabbed the engagement ring, and told the stunned couple to get downstairs, as the crowd began to boo her.
The pair walked down the stairs and when they reached the bottom the staff handed the ring back and said: ‘That’s the rule.’
The man then held out his hand and pointed off-screen, saying: ‘She said yes,’ although it is unclear whether he meant his fiancee-to-be or one of the off-camera staff members.
“Yes, that’s great, but things will get even better here,” the staff member responded as he continued to wave the woman down the stairs.

After the video was first shared in 2022, Disney apologized to the couple.
The company said in a statement: New York Times at the time: ‘We have offered our sincere apologies to the couple involved and will do our best to make amends.’
The Daily Mail has reached out to Disneyland Paris for comment.
The man who made the offer also spoke to the Times at the time and claimed that he actually got permission from a different employee before going on stage.
The man, named Ante, also revealed that Disney offered him and his fiancée a free weekend at Disneyland, including a hotel stay.
However, he stated that he was not interested in their offers and said: ‘I don’t want to visit Disneyland anymore.
‘They can’t give us this moment back and that’s all I want; getting a second chance.’
