Apple iPhone 18 Pro Latest Leak Signals Significant Design Change

According to recent leaks, Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max designs may feature a different look from the brand’s Dynamic Island cut and adjustments to the body materials.

A Diminutive Dynamic Island?
This isn’t the first time a smaller Dynamic Island has been proposed, but the latest report says testing is currently ongoing, which will lead to the adoption of one of the two designs in due course.
The leak, known as Digital Chat Station, predicts that the design change may come after Samsung’s comments on Apple designs.
“Samsung’s mockery of Apple’s ‘small island’ design raises the possibility that the iPhone 18 Pro series will also include a small island.” The leak was reported on Weibo.
For the record, I don’t believe what Samsung says influences Apple, or vice versa. But the leaker has more to say.
“Current supply chain feedback shows A/B testing: one screen die remains unchanged, while the other features a small island below the Face ID RX area,” they continued.
So, either Dynamic Island will be the same as on the iPhone 17 Pro, or it will be smaller and the Face ID sensor will be hidden under the screen.
The leak has a good history. The only thing I would note is that mid-April seems like too late to be doing A/B testing, although it’s not impossible.
Improving Back Design and Materials
The same commentator posted another report, referring to the back of the iPhone.
“In the next post, the leaker also touched on the rear design of the iPhone 18 Pro,” commented MacRumors. “He said the rectangular plateau design introduced with the iPhone 17 Pro will remain unchanged, but the rear will see ‘minor adjustments to body materials and design details.’ This is likely a reference to previously rumored changes aimed at achieving a more streamlined look between the aluminum unibody frame and glass cutout for wireless charging,” the report continued.
