Sharron Simmons, the first DoorDash employee to deliver meals to the White House, said she hopes the benefits from President Donald Trump’s no tip tax policy will extend beyond the current 2028 lifespan.
“Frankly, we’d like it to continue, but I’ll enjoy it while I have it. And, you know, that’s not up to me to decide,” he told Fox News Digital in an interview on Monday, shortly after ordering Trump’s McDonald’s.
Overall, Simmons says he believes it will bring home more than $11,000 in additional income.
“I think I’ll probably save $3,000 to $4,000,” said Simmons.

Simmons’ story is one of many ways the White House is trying to highlight his work through Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill, the president’s signature tax and border security package.
In addition to tax deductions for tips, this bill also temporarily eliminated tax liabilities for overtime pay, increased the severance pay deduction to $12,000, and increased the child tax credit by $200 per child.

Critics of the package argue that the tax cuts reduce the country’s income and contribute to the national deficit, while supporters argue that the package will grow the economy by putting more money in the hands of consumers.

Simmons initially joined DoorDash as a way to earn some extra income, noting that he began his partnership with DoorDash because of its flexibility in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I’ve been doing DoorDash since 2022. And I just started this business because it was something where I wouldn’t have to go to the office after COVID and everything. And I felt like I could help other people by doing this,” explained Simmons.
