Richard Marles to announce record peacetime defence spend

Secretary of Defence Richard Marles We will announce the latest National Defense Strategy later today.

AAP This morning it is reported that Marles will announce at the National Press Club in Canberra that an extra $14 billion will be spent on defense over the next four years compared to predictions in the last strategy in 2024.

With an additional $53 billion earmarked for defense over the next decade, the government claims the country’s total defense spending will rise to 3% of GDP by 2033, according to the news outlet.
