Voyeur caught secretly installing camera in shower gel bottle to target victim

A voyeur who secretly planted a camera in his victim’s shower gel bottle has been jailed for a series of “deeply invasive” crimes spanning a decade.

Police said Jean-Pierre Francis secretly shot hundreds of videos of six women through “misuse of everyday technology” using hidden devices stored in pens, USB sticks and receipts. The devices were hidden in women’s homes and workplaces.

He pleaded guilty to six counts of voyeurism and was sentenced to three years and six months in prison at Northampton Crown Court.

Police said the 33-year-old’s crime was discovered in May 2024 after a woman found a hidden camera in the bedroom of her Northampton home.

Officers identified Francis as the suspect, and a forensic examination of his devices revealed hundreds of videos and images that Francis had taken using hidden cameras between 2015 and 2025.

Police said the videos were shot using various hidden cameras and targeted six women in their 20s and 60s.

A destruction order was also made in respect of all devices used by Francis, and he was also given a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order preventing him from owning any camera phones and other recording devices. He will also be on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

Lead investigating detective Georgia Sampson said: “Jean-Pierre Francis committed persistent and deeply invasive crimes by misusing everyday technology to invade his victims’ privacy in places where they should feel safest.”

He added that the force’s priority was to “give victims a voice” and that he hoped the outcome would “allow them to move forward”.

“This was a complex and highly technical investigation involving meticulous examination of multiple devices spanning a decade-long crime, ultimately revealing the true extent of his behaviour,” he continued.

“I would like to express my particular gratitude to PC Sean Taylor from our Digital Media Research Team, whose expertise and persistence in downloading and analyzing large amounts of digital material was instrumental in leading to this conclusion.

“Tackling violence against women and girls is a priority for Northamptonshire Police and we will continue to work hard to put more people like Francis behind bars.”
