Amit Shah vows to implement UCC, end ‘goonda raj’ in Bengal if BJP comes to power

Addressing a public rally at Tehatta in Nadia district, Shah also claimed that voters had “eliminated” the Mamata Banerjee government in the first phase of the assembly polls.

“BJP has already won 110 seats in the first phase of polls held on April 23,” he said.
“If the BJP comes to power in the state, it will be the end of ‘goonda raj’ and ‘syndicate raj’ in West Bengal. Don’t be afraid to go out and vote as the Election Commission has made extensive regulations. Nobody will stop you from voting,” Shah said.
He said that if the BJP comes to power, it will identify “spies hiding in the state” and take necessary measures against them.
The senior BJP leader had to cut short his speech due to sudden heavy rain despite a large gathering at the venue.
Later, speaking at another meeting in Ranaghat in the same district, Shah claimed that most of the cattle smuggling takes place through Nadia.
“After forming the government in West Bengal, we will form a special team to stop cattle smuggling,” Shah said and slammed the Mamata Banerjee dispensation for allegedly helping increase crime.

Shah promised that women and unemployed youth will be given a monthly allowance of Rs 3,000 and said that after the BJP comes to power in the state, women will be able to get free rides in all state transport vehicles.
Shah said that if the BJP comes to power in West Bengal, it will implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), end polygamy and implement the ban on triple talaq. PTI
