Cameron Diaz expressed her fears over being an ‘older mother’ with other moms ‘literally 20 years younger’ just days before welcoming her third child aged 53

Just days before announcing the birth of her third child, Cameron Diaz admitted she felt ‘pressure’ to live a long, healthy life as an older mother.

The 53-year-old Hollywood star and her 47-year-old musician husband Benji Madden shared the news about the arrival of their son Nautas Madden on Instagram on Sunday, stating that they were “happy, excited and feeling very happy.”

The couple, who married in 2015, are already parents to six-year-old daughter Raddix and two-year-old son Cardinal, who was born via surrogate.

Just days before the surprise birth was announced, Cameron expressed her fear of becoming an older mother, admitting that she had befriended other mums ‘literally 20 years younger than her’.

Reminding that she took a break from acting for 10 years and prioritized her marriage and children, Cameron said that becoming a mother for the first time at the age of 47 made her more focused on aging better.

‘I love being a mother. This is the best, best, best part of my life. The only pressure for me now is that I have to live to be 107, you know?’

‘Women my age who have children are literally 20 years younger, and that’s interesting because I’m not that age.’ said OK! Magazine.

‘And that’s totally fine but I want to feel such a vital emotion for my child. ‘I’m trying to survive like every mother.’

Cameron had previously talked about her focus on longevity in a conversation with her close friend Gwyneth Paltrow, 53, and announced that she wanted to live for at least 50 more years.

In a 2022 episode of Gwyneth’s Goop podcast, Cameron said: ‘The concept of aging has completely changed even in the last 10 years.fully opened.”

‘I am excited. “I have another 50 or 60 years ahead of me – I want to live to be 110 because I have a little child,” he said of his first-born daughter, Raddix.

‘I think there’s a wonderful moment in your 40s where you appreciate who your parents are, and I want to have that moment with them; “I want to be there for him in his 40s,” he added.

Cameron, the ‘oldest mum in my group of girlfriends with kids’, said she felt ‘lucky’ to have built up her village of support over so many years. ‘I’m lucky to be my age, I’m lucky to have those girlfriends, I’m lucky to have my daughter, I’m lucky to have all the support I’ve been given while raising her.’

He added that his genetics were in his favor when it came to living a long life and explained: ‘My family comes from a solid background. When my grandmother was 72, she was running around carrying big bags of rabbit food and chicken feed under the hot sun of the San Fernando Valley. I think I have a little bit of that in me.’

During the interview, Cameron admitted she ‘credits’ her friend Gwyneth, who is mother to Apple Martin, 21, and Moses, 20, for convincing her to become a mother, even though she waited until later in life.

Gwyneth recalled ‘having those conversations once, saying, ‘I’m not sure I want kids.’

‘You will have a child even if it is the last thing you do! Yes you are!’ Cameron laughed remembering this. ‘I wasn’t convinced I would do it!’

“Of all people, you were just supposed to be the mother,” Gwyneth insisted. ‘Not everyone wants to do that and that’s great but I knew you were too, I just needed to get it out of you.’

Cameron thanked his friend and told her, ‘I love you for this, I think about it all the time and I totally agree with you.’ You and Benji.’

The actress, who returned to acting last year after a ten-year break, will star opposite Keanu Reeves in the next Apple TV movie, Outcome.

Cameron, who was spotted on the set of The Sham in recent weeks, showed off her natural beauty after admitting that she gave up Botox a few years ago, preferring to embrace natural aging.

In addition to her work on Outcome, she is currently filming The Sham with Stephen Merchant and will star as Princess Fiona in a new Shrek movie in 2027.

Cameron took a break from Hollywood after 2014’s Annie, but returned last year to star opposite Jamie Foxx in Back in Action.

Cameron, who was seen on the set of The Sham in recent weeks, showed off her natural beauty after admitting that she gave up botox a few years ago and preferred natural aging.

More than a decade ago, she revealed that she ‘regretted’ Botox ‘changing’ her face and stopped wearing heavy make-up in her 40s.

‘I tried [Botox] where was it before [a] a little touch on something,’ he recalled.

‘It changed my face in such a strange way that I said, ‘No, I don’t want it.’ [be] like [that]”‘ he said Fun Tonight In 2014.

She added: ‘I’d rather see my face aging than a face that doesn’t belong to me.’
