Keir Starmer makes huge admission just days before local elections | Politics | News

Speaking at a campaign rally in south London, broadcasters asked the Prime Minister how he could persuade voters to support his party, which is falling behind in the opinion polls.
The Prime Minister replied: “As you can see, we have a fantastic Labor team working every day in London and across the country, campaigning with fantastic councilors and candidates and delivering a very positive message.
“Of course it’s going to be challenging, but it’s really important that we fight for every vote that needs to be won on this.”
BBC London questioned why the Prime Minister was “on his first campaign tour” in the capital two days before election day, and whether the perceived delay was because Labor supporters viewed him as a “liability”.
Asked why he was the “invisible man”, Sir Keir said: “I have a great team, not just here but across the country.
“I was just with my Camden team on Saturday and the positivity they bring to this situation is contagious, they know what they are fighting for.
“They’ve been fighting long and hard over the last few weeks. As I know, the last few days of a campaign are really important.”
“I’m really happy to be here with them and they bring that spirit of positivity.”
Sir Keir, who faces a possible leadership challenge after Thursday, has reportedly been kept away from the local election campaign due to his “toxic” image.
The Labor Party is expected to become a bloodbath with a loss of more than 1,000 seats.
Crushing polls for Sir Keir’s party suggest Labor will lose at least six of the 21 councils it currently controls in the British capital.
Meanwhile, the Greens and Reform England are poised to make big gains.
