‘Houses shake’ as explosions ring out after huge fire erupts overnight | UK | News

They were warned about the fire at 23.54 on Tuesday, May 5.

According to reports, locals could see and hear loud explosions and bright orange lights from as far away as Eastbourne.

One resident reported online hearing multiple ‘loud explosions’, while another added that the sky from Polegate was ‘glowing red’.

A woman living in Golden Cross added that her ‘house was shaken’ by the fire.

The fire department warned citizens to stay away from the area while the fire was brought under control.

Citizens are asked to close windows and doors due to smoke.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said in a statement: “At 11.54pm four crews were dispatched to the agricultural building fire on Ailies Lane, East Hoathly.

“The public has been urged to avoid the area and nearby residents have asked for windows and doors to be closed.”
