Trump says White House chief of staff Susie Wiles is winning cancer battle

President Donald Trump praised White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles for “decisively winning” her battle with cancer after revealing she was diagnosed nine weeks ago while accepting a major award Thursday night.
“It has been especially inspiring to see his courage and resilience in recent weeks, and he is decisively winning his battle with cancer,” Trump said in a pre-recorded video message. “This was an early diagnosis, so he will be doing very well.”
During an onstage conversation, Wiles said he would continue working after the diagnosis.
“I come to work every day. I do my job, I don’t complain, and I think that sets an example for the people I work with,” Wiles said.

Trump surprises Wiles with video while accepting the Independent Women’s Forum Barbara K. Olson Woman of Courage Award at a gala in Washington, D.C.
He praised her as “the first female chief of staff in American history” and “one of the best White House chiefs of staff in history.”
“I actually say it’s the best,” Trump said, adding that he was “extremely grateful” for her “friendship, loyalty and support every day.”

Wiles said he did not know the video was intended for the premiere, although Trump briefly walked in while he was recording.
“I went in while we were making that movie, but I didn’t know what it was for, so I kind of slipped out the back door,” he said.
Trump said Wiles had played a key role in each of his presidential campaigns “especially in 2024” and said his administration’s successes came “with his help and leadership.”

Trump said, “Susie, we have a problem. I say go to Susie.” “We owe him a huge debt, and what he has done for our country is incredible.”
Wiles, who describes himself as a lifelong Republican, said his decision to support Trump in 2016 was one of the biggest risks of his career.
“I wanted a jammer,” Wiles said. “I looked at the obstructionists on the field and said, I think that person is Donald Trump.”

When asked about his current role, Wiles said, “This is the path God chose for me. I’m here and doing the best I can every day.”
The gala was held Thursday at the Waldorf Astoria in Washington, DC.
